The Children and Young People’s Plan 2011-14 has now been published. You can view a copy of the plan using the link below

The plan describes our priorities and sets out our ideas and proposals to ensure that all children and young people are given every opportunity to thrive and prosper in Bridgend County Borough.

In 2005 the Welsh Assembly Government issued its ‘Rights to Action’ Guidance (on the Children Act 2004) which set out what had been achieved by Partnerships throughout Wales and outlined a national approach to develop policy, improve services and demonstrate the difference made to children and young people’s lives.

The Partnership is keen to hear from everyone in Bridgend, and particularly children, young people, parents and carers. Please click to download the Children and Young People's plan 2011-14.

Audit of Needs & Service Profile

This Audit of needs has been produced by the Bridgend Children & Young People’s Partnership, incorporating information provided under the Bridgend Health Social Care and Well Being Needs Analysis. This document builds upon previous audits of need therefore providing an outline of the current position, therefore it is a working document and a key task will be ensuring that the information is regularly up-dated.

The service profile is currently being developed as a database. This will eventually provide partner agencies with information on all children and young people’s service provision according to age group, geographical area, provision type and the tier and dimension of need being met.

Bridgend Children and Young People’s Partnership

The Bridgend Children and Young People’s Partnership is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative that provides a context for planning and delivering services for children and young people from 0 - 19 years, together with care leavers up to 21 (or above if in continuing education or training) and those receiving youth support services (within the meaning of Section 123 of the Learning and Skills Act 2000) up to the age of 25. The Partnership works to the seven core aims which are that all children and young people should be given every chance:

  • have a flying start to life

by which we mean

be born healthy into a secure and supportive family

  • have access to appropriate educational opportunities

by which we mean

be able to fulfil their potential as learners

  • be healthy and free from exploitation

by which we mean

be healthy and secure individuals, free from exploitation by others

  • access play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities

by which we mean

be able to participate in activities regardless of their skills and abilities

  • be listened to and treated with respect

by which we mean

be able to have a say in all decisions which affect them and have an understanding of their rights and

responsibilities

  • live in a safe home and community

by which we mean

be safe and emotionally well supported within their home and local community

  • not be disadvantaged by poverty

by which we mean

thrive and become confident and caring people regardless of their family’s income
