Did you know that Bridgend Children's Information Service is growing too.....

It will now be known as BRIDGEND FAMILY INFORMATION SERVICE

please read on to find out more

The official all Wales launch of the Family Information Service by Jane Hutt, Minister of Children, Education, Lifelong learning and skills took place during the Children in Wales conference held in Builth Wells on 23rd October 2008.

The duty placed on the local authority under Section 27 (2) of the Childcare Act 2006 states that the service must provide to parents or to prospective parents information that my be described as falling within two key categories:

  • Childcare
  • Other services or facilities which may be of benefit to prospective parents and parents of children or young people

This will help parents and carers to select the most appropriate local services for them and their children. There is also a range of more generic national information available, such as information on tax credits, in the form of websites, telephone help lines and published material. The expectation is that information services will be able to sign-post parents to these sources as appropriate.

In Bridgend we aim to build on the well established children's information service, expanding the remit and striving to meet the new minimum standards and achieve the Family First award.

So along with information on childcare and activities for the under 5s the Family Information Service will provide parents and prospective parents with advice, guidance and signposting to services and activities as their children grow into young people.

Although our logo has changed the team remains the same and our free phone number is still 0800 180 4320
