New Year a Healthy Start
What best way to start the New year than eating healthier. Family life is so busy that healthy eating becomes difficulty and time-consuming; but why not this year view healthy eating as a great adventure, one where there are as many approaches as there are good foods.
The challenge (and even the fun) comes in finding what works for you and your kid's. It could be anything from involving children in the shopping; cooking a delicious dish together or playing food related games. Exploring these ideas means your family can discover their own favourite recipe for healthier eating.
Kids can often be reluctant to try new foods - especially if they have been told it is healthy.
There are lots of inventive ways to involve the kids:
- Let them play chef.
- Let them help with the shopping
- Visit a local Farmers Market
- Explore food of other cultures.
Try new foods can also be both nourishing and educational; for example:
BREAD OF THE WORLD - First make a map of the world and some little flags, then try different breads such as:
Pita Bread from Middle East
Rye Bread from Sweden
Breadsticks from Italy
Baguettes from France
then have the kids to mark each place of the map, putting a star next to the ones they like. This helps you and is fun for the kids.
